Lunch 2013 - Our Wines
|
Van Volxem - Saar Riesling 2011
- Wiltingen, Mosel, Germany Welcoming bouquet; dryish palate; mineral, citrus, pear and baked apple notes; good acidity Introduced to us by Mike Bonar Vasse Felix - Chardonnay 2011 - Margaret River, Western Australia A fine representative from our Margaret River tasting; good weight; fine purity of fruit and good length Mike Marwick Jean-Claude Bachelet St Aubin 1er Cru Derrière la Tour Pinot Noir 2009 Côte de Beaune We greatly appreciated the sumptuous bouquet but thought on the palate it was a year too young. By the wonders of the Wine Club lunch we now have another chance to "look” at it. Andy Williams Followed by: Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2010 – Hemel-en-Arde Valley, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa This wine respects the traditions and skills of Burgundy but in a hotter climate. We thought it was already complex, full but not overpowering and with well-balanced acidity. Betty Campbell It is to be hoped that these two wines, with their courses, will provide an interesting comparison. Paul Jaboulet Aîné “Les Jalets” Syrah 2008 - Crozes Hermitage , Côtes du Rhône Aromas of tart red berries and spice; black fruit character and well-judged tannins with liquorice notes – a gem. Raymond Pia Domaine de Vieux Vauvert 2011 Chenin Blanc -
Vouvray, Loire Valley Well balanced with honeysuckle perfume; luscious
autumn fruits; long finish. Betty
Campbell
It is intended that these six wines will complement the meal and represent our hard work over the last year. |
