Simart- Moreau Grand Cru Vintage 2000 Chardonnay 50% & 50% Pinot Noir France Great Grog £19.99 A good find from a small producer, smooth and elegant. 50% Chardonnay 50% Pinot Noir giving a lovely balance. 4 points
Yalumba 2005 Viognier Australia Waitrose £9.99 Much enjoyed voted top equal best value. Rich with fruit and a hint of spice. A very good find for the festive period.

Pouilly-Fuisse 2006 Chardonnay France Waitrose £12.99 A lovely wine but perhaps a bit over priced, a classic Burgundy, subtle fruit flavours. 2 points
Merlot Cabernet Kaituna Hills 2006 Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon New Zealand Marks & Spencer £6.99 A nice inexpensive wine, smooth, medium bodied discounted to £5 99, voted equal best value. 5 points
Gevrey Chambertin Clos de la Justice 2003 Pinot Noir France Great Grog £23.99 A wonderful wine from a family run vineyard, a complex, elegant wine with subtle fruit flavours. Superb example of a classic Burgundy. 15 points

Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak 2005 Pinot Noir South Africa Great Grog £17.99 The hit of the night, a wonderfully smooth wine with tremendous nose, fantastic fruit and a hint of vanilla. A must to have with the Christmas meal! 20 points

Bremerton Selkirk Shiraz 2004 Shiraz Australia Great Grog £9.75 Vibrant, rich berry fruits with spice and a hint of pepper. A perfect marriage with cheese. 8 points
Etim (late harvest) Verma Tardana 2005 Granache Spain Great Grog £7.99 A black / red pudding wine which stood up well to Mince Pies and one assumes would go well with the Christmas pudding? Sweet without being sickly. 2 points
